Job Description

Summary

This role's primary responsibility will be carrying out studies involving mouse experiments including survival surgery, and administrating drugs in mouse via IV, IP or gavaging and various molecular and cellular works by working independently and working together with PI and postdoctal associates. The candidate should have the ability to interpret and analyze data at a basic level and learn quickly to become more independent as time goes on. The area of research is to understand the interrelationship between diet, microbiome, and cancer metabolism.

Job Duties

  • Performs many molecular, biochemical and cellular experiments, and analyzes the data independently.
  • Confers with Principal Investigator (PI) and other lab members to plan and execute complex experiments.
  • Maintains necessary inventory of supplies and reagents required for experiments.
  • Accurately documents experiments to ensure that work can be replicated by others. Collects, analyzes, compiles, interprets and evaluates research results and reports progress to PI.
  • Teaches some experimental techniques to rotation students, summer undergraduate students, etc. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or a related field. 
  • Three years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • 3 years of full-time research experiences after BA degree can be substituted for a Master's degree.
  • Basic molecular and cell culture research experience.
  • Knowledge of basic concepts of biology and genetics. 
  • Experience with mice, organoids and immunology are preferred, but not required.
