Job Description

The Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP) is looking for an Instrument Systems Engineer to support the Libera project in building a novel spaceflight instrument that continues a key measurement for the Earth Radiation Budget. LIBERA is being designed, manufactured, and tested at LASP. The launch of LIBERA is planned for 2027.

LASP is a University of Colorado space research lab at the Boulder campus. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Support the Libera instrument development program from preliminary design, through critical design, fabrication, integration, and test, on to operations.
Support the Lead SE in defining and managing system architecture, design, and interface definitions.
Coordinate the informational interface between the instrument and spacecraft bus.
Assist management of the Libera requirements database in DOORS Next.
Learn the capabilities and performance of the instrument in order to generate verification plans and reports.
Supports programmatic and technical processes, such as risk management, configuration management, interface management, anomaly management, technical resource management, and system level analyses from design, fabrication, test, and delivery.
Assist with the execution of milestone, and as-required, technical reviews.

Systems Engineering experience.
BS/BA or higher-level degree in engineering or applied sciences.
What You Will Need

Experience with requirements management, interface control, and/or verification & validation (V&V).
Strong written and verbal communication.
A great teammate that is reliable, accessible, and willing to contribute where needed to get the job done.
What We Would Like You To Have
What We Would Like You To Have
Systems Engineering experience on NASA science missions (other relevant technical experience on NASA missions may be considered).
Experience integrating and testing science instruments.
Knowledge of spaceflight instrument development.
Experience with software tools such as DOORS, Agile, and MATLAB.
Experience working in cleanroom environments with ESD sensitive hardware.
Experience with configuration management, anomaly management, risk management, reliability analyses, or system safety.
