Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:
The Department of Engineering Physics in the College of Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison seeks candidates for a tenure-track faculty position in nuclear engineering. While strong candidates in all areas of nuclear engineering are encouraged to apply, this search will prioritize areas related to integrated safety analysis applied to nuclear engineering.
The department has identified a strategic priority in integrated safety analysis and assessment, including areas such as development and validation of modeling techniques applied to integrated system-level computer codes, applications of data science, machine learning and/or artificial intelligence to improve the predictive capabilities of safety analysis tools, and integration of experimental and simulation data to safety analysis. Demonstrated potential for excellence in research and teaching in these or related areas is desired. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience working with state-of-the-art safety analysis software for current and advanced nuclear reactors.
The new hire will have a tenure home in the Department of Engineering Physics and will join a faculty community in the Institute for Nuclear Energy Systems with diverse research interests related to nuclear energy applications. As a member of a vibrant nuclear engineering community, the new hire will have many opportunities to establish collaborations with both experimental and computational research groups already active on the UW campus. Faculty members are expected to establish and maintain a world-class graduate research program, teach courses, contribute to the education and professional development of a diverse community of undergraduate and graduate students, and engage in department, college, university, and appropriate community and professional service activities.
