Alabama A&M University (AAMU), an 1890 Land-Grant institution located in the high-tech center of Huntsville in northern Alabama, invites applications for the positions listed below. Situated in the northeast quadrant of the city of 200,000, the hillside campus is just four miles away from downtown Huntsville. AAMU offers its 6,100-student population a wide range of course offerings under the College of Agriculture, Life and Natural Sciences; College of Business and Public Affairs; College of Education, Humanities and Behavioral Sciences and College of Engineering, Technology and Physical Science. The School of Graduate Studies serves about 1,400 and offers doctoral degree programs in Applied Physics, Food Science, Plant/Soil Science and Reading/Literacy.


This position in the area of mechanical engineering with preference to the CAD/CAM area. The Rank and Tenure-status is negotiable based on qualification.

Applicant must have a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, prior teaching and research experience, a proven track record or potential for significant research productivity. B.S. in ME is required. Applicant must have qualifications and experience to teach various courses across the spectrum of Mechanical Engineering curriculum, supervise senior design projects, develop mechanical engineering laboratories, conduct research, pursue external research funding, advice students, and serve on various university committees. Priority will be given to applicants with expertise in one or more of the following areas: laboratory development, Computer Aided Design, Advanced Manufacturing, Capstone design, Computational Fluid Dynamics, and success in securing extramural support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Teach general and mechanical engineering courses as assigned by the Program Coordinator.
Conduct research and secure external funding. Publish research papers in scholarly journals. Conduct laboratory instruction.
Advise students.
Serve on departmental, school, and university committees. Participate in public service/professional activities.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Earned a doctorate degree in Mechanical Engineering
A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
