Job Description


The Senior Bioinformatics Analyst will provide support to epidemiological research projects by analyzing genomic, metabolomic, and/or proteomic data using bioinformatics and computational techniques and concepts. The Center for Epidemiology and Population Health and the Epidemiology Program in the Cancer Center are vibrant research divisions within the Department of Pediatrics. They are expanding to meet the growing research needs at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children's Hospital.

Job Duties

  • Provides technical leadership and establishes protocols and guidelines for discovery and annotation of -omics data.
  • Works with faculty to design and implement large-scale scientific projects and initiatives.
  • Collaborates with Program Directors, faculty, and other members of the research team to develop software and practices that support the scientific effort of the Program.
  • Trains other scientists in the analysis and interpretation of -omics data.
  • Selects technical methods and tools and develops protocols and guidelines to support research projects.
  • Determines project objectives and establishes timelines.
  • Analyzes technical problems and proposes and investigates solutions.
  • Examines experimental data and compiles results.
  • Works with faculty to develop reports, manuscripts, and grant applications.
  • Works with faculty and staff to develop databases for various projects.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Genetics, Biology, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Four years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  •  Master’s degree in a related field.
