Job Description


We are seeking a talented individual for a part-time position to join our team at Baylor College of Medicine- Center for Innovation Quality Effectiveness and Safety. This is a Research Coordinator II for an individual with prior experience coordinating human subject research studies and/or randomized clinical trials. This position entails coordinating a federally funded research study and will be responsible for recruitment, telephone screening, enrollment, study assessments, scheduling participants and maintaining contact over 6-month study duration.

Job Purpose

Coordinates day to day activities of research protocols which include screening, enrollment, and monitoring of research participants. Ensures accurate data collection, documentation, organization and safety of research participants.

Job Duties

  • Interviews, screens and recruits patients for study; explains process and procedures to educate participant regarding the research study.
  • Obtains informed consent.
  • Collects patient information; processes documents and enters information into a database.
  • Maintains records and regulatory documents and records for research studies and corresponds with IRB.
  • Schedules research participant for procedures specific for the research protocol.
  • Corresponds / maintains contact with participants throughout 6-month study.
  • Orders supplies and equipment.
  • Collects and ships blood specimens according to procedures outlined in study protocol.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • One year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology or related field and some previous research experience.
  • Computer skills (MS Office - Word, Excel, Access) required.
  • Clinical research methodology prefered. 
  • Individuals with prior experience coordinating human subject research studies and/or randomized clinical trials are preferred.


  • Position may involve traveling to participant homes or other recruitment sites in greater Houston area and will be reimbursed for mileage using your own vehicle.
  • May have to transport blood. 
  • Some nights and weekends may be required.
  • Valued skills include affable demeanor/people skills, highly organized, detail-oriented, work independently and with team.
