Job Description


The Data Analytics Associate will provide data management and statistical support for research and operational projects within the Epidemiology Program of the Cancer Center. The successful candidate will work closely with Program Directors and Faculty on a wide range of projects to meet the goals of the Program. This position will also collaborate with other Faculty and Staff across the Department and College, as well as with collaborators outside of the institution.


The Center for Epidemiology and Population Health and the Epidemiology Program in the Cancer Center are vibrant research divisions within the Department of Pediatrics. They are expanding to meet the growing research needs at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children's Hospital.

Job Duties

  • Assists Faculty with defining project plans, milestones and timelines.
  • Interprets data and analyzes results using statistical techniques and provides ongoing reports.
  • Develops and implements databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
  • Acquires data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems.
  • Identifies, analyzes, and interprets trends or patterns in complex data sets.
  • Filters and "cleans" data by reviewing computer reports, printouts, and project indicators to locate and correct code problems.
  • Works with Faculty to prioritize projects and information needs.
  • Attends project meetings and capture decisions, issues, and action items.
  • Assists with writing documentation for reports, manuscripts, and grant applications.
  • Works with Data Managers and Research Coordinators to identify and correct data errors.
  • Works with Faculty and Data Managers to develop and implement data quality control/assurance procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in a related field with no experience may also be considered.
