Job Description


The Therapeutic Innovation Center is seeking talented and motivated research technician to work in an interdisciplinary team environment on early therapeutic and drug discovery projects. As our key focus is on diseases of gene regulation, with an emphasis on cancer, this position will involve the study of phenotypes associated with target perturbation in engineered cancer cell line and mouse models. Candidates should be organized, goal-oriented, and able to quickly learn new techniques.

Job Duties

  • Executes cell and molecular biology protocols under the supervision of other research staff.
  • Evaluates and analyzes data associated with assigned experiments.
  • Clearly documents and communicates (oral and written) experimental results and progress to principal investigators.
  • Assists in the preparation of laboratory reports.
  • Works collaboratively and effectively in a highly dynamic, multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Cleans and maintains laboratory equipment, supplies and work areas.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned.
  • Frequently handles/works with biohazards or risks for potential job-related injury, such as those found in an ordinary laboratory environment.
  • Maintenance of cancer and normal mammalian cell lines utilizing meticulous sterile technique and attention to detail.
  • Executions of cell based assays to assess growth, death and other phenotypes after genetic or pharmacologic manipulation.
  • Animal husbandry and general animal care including genotyping, breeding, tumor measurement, oral gavage and IP injections.
  • Executions of standard molecular biology protocols including PCR, qRT-PCR, western blot, RNA/protein/DNA isolation
  • Compiles, analyzes, and presents scientific data using MS Office suite.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • One year of relevant experience.
