The Salesforce Developer will be part of the Harvard Medical School’s Information Systems team, which is responsible for the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) from project inception through implementation. The team also provides ongoing support for Harvard Medical School systems that support core functions related (but not limited to) Human Resources, Finance, Research Administration, Facilities Management, and Faculty and Student Affairs. The Salesforce Developer will report to the Salesforce Product Owner. Working with other IT staff, they will develop, test, configure, and deploy, HMS IT’s Salesforce implementation. The ideal candidate will be energized by solving problems in new and innovative ways, is comfortable working in an ever-changing environment, and can engage with stakeholders to identify the minimal viable product for frequent delivery of new technology solutions.
Typical Core Duties
Participate fully in software development life cycle
Research, design, and implement technical solutions to deliver business requirements
Identify opportunities to improve and simplify applications portfolio and implement related enhancements
Contribute to creation and maturing of software development best practices and new technologies
Draw on relationship and technical skills to act as technical liaison to internal and external clients and to mentor junior staff
Abide by and follow the Harvard University IT technical standards, policies and Code of Conduct
Minimum of five years’ post-secondary education or relevant work experience
Additional Qualifications and Skills
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field of study, or equivalent
• Minimum of two years of technical work and one year of Salesforce development
• Salesforce Platform Developer I Certification
• Knowledge of Apex, SOQL, Lightning Flows, Metadata and Lightning Web Component
• Experience using Salesforce tools (sfdx, Data Loader, CumulusCI)
• Salesforce Administrator and Platform Developer II Certification
• Experience with the Salesforce Educational Data Architecture model (EDA)
• Familiarity with Agile software development methodology
• Experience with designing, creating and deploying Salesforce Communities
• Deep insight into the technology/Higher Education sector
• Self-motivated and creative
• Proven background launching significant system enhancements
This Staff role may start as a remote position due to the COVID-19 pandemic and while restrictions are still in place. The current remote nature of this role is considered temporary and may change as the University continues to evaluate options. While we continue to monitor the evolving COVID-19 guidelines, local on-campus work may be expected for some roles. Harvard Medical School does support flexible schedules, subject to individual departments’ business needs.
