Job Description

Summary

The Jiang lab at Baylor College of Medicine and Neurological Res Inst at Texas Children´s Hospital (https://www.bcm.edu/research/labs/xiaolong-jiang) is looking for a full-time lab technician.

Job Purpose

Performs the routine elements of research work that requires the use of skills, technical and academic knowledge to follow established procedures and record results.

Job Duties

  • Orders and maintains laboratory supplies and equipment.
  • Maintains mouse colonies, genotyping, PCR. 
  • Prepares for single-cell RNA-sequencing. 
  • Performs basic immunostaining and other histological staining techniques.
  • Performs neuronal reconstruction with Neurolucida. 
  • Collects, compiles, and analyzes data. 
  • Documents results of experiments. 
  • Assisting PI and postdocs in related projects.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • One year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field.

Other

Frequently handles/works with biohazards or risks for a potential job-related injury, such as those found in an ordinary laboratory or clinic environment.
