Job Description

Summary

A full time research technician position is available in the lab of Dr. Melanie Samuel at Baylor College of Medicine in the fields of neuroscience, physiology, aging and molecular biology.

Job Purpose

Performs the routine elements of research work that requires the use of skills, technical and academic knowledge to follow established procedures and record results.

Job Duties

Assistance with the animal colony, PCR, genotyping, conducting dissections and tissue collection, preparing lab stocks and solutions, assisting in laboratory stocking and organization, assisting with ongoing project, ordering, and documenting results.

  • Prepares and conducts laboratory research experiments.
  • Collects, compiles and analyzes data
  • Conducts literature searches and summarizes information in an appropriate format for a particular study.
  • Documents results of experiments.
  • Selects, evaluates and applies techniques used in routine research.
  • Orders laboratory supplies and equipment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Associate's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Two years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • Experience: One year of relevant experience.
