Job Description

Job Purpose

Performs complex, responsible research work of an advanced nature requiring high-level skills and expertise; uses own initiative or supervises others in planning and completing advanced medical or research experiments in accordance with general directions from the principal investigator.

Job Duties

  • Performs routine cell biology and molecular biology studies.
  • Produces large-scale clinical grade Viral Vectors, plasmid DNA and Cell banks in a Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) facility.
  • Establishes, performs and interprets tests and experiments designated to determine the safety and identity of the therapeutic agents for clinical trials.
  • Independently troubleshoot experiments and assist with the development and implementation of new procedures/processes.
  • Assists in creating standard operating procedures for GMP productions.
  • Assists in training less experienced staff.
  • Responsible for maintaining equipment and documentation to ensure compliance with appropriate regulations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. 
  • Four years of relevant experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree basic science or equivalent.
  • Master degree with five years of related experience.


  • Cell culture experience with excellent aseptic technique and experiences with other cell biology and molecular biology studies such as DNA, RNA and protein extraction, purification and analysis.  Precision in preparing materials and recording data.
  • Assist to train and supervise less experienced staff.
  • Frequently handles/works with biohazards or risks for potential job-related injury, such as those found in an ordinary laboratory or clinic environment.
