Job Description


The Zhang lab works on the genetic and epigenetic regulation of heart failure. We use diverse omics tools and genetically engineered mouse models. One particular interest is circadian rhythm. Our ultimate goal is to design novel therapeutic strategies for heart failure. We also use the human induced pluripotent stem cell model to study inherited cardiomyopathies in patients

Job Duties

-Managing mouse colonies.
-Collecting samples from mice.
-Cell culture, including cell lines and primary cells.
-Performing qPCR, immunofluorescence, in situ, microscopy, ChIP, co-IP, cloning, etc.
-Carrying out independent research project, including planning the experiment, performing the experiment, collecting and analyzing the results. 
-Communicating research professionally, including presenting and discussing research both verbally and in writing. 
-Collaborating with other lab members.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Basic Science or a related field.  Experience in lieu of degree will not be accepted.
  • Three years of relevant experience typically as a Research Assistant, Research Technician or Postdoctoral Fellow/Associate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, recent PhD in molecular biology, cell biology, genetics or related field, with a strong interest and experience in cardiovascular biology.
  • Molecular biology and cell biology
  • Skills that are desired: experience of working with mice
  • Skills that will be a plus: mouse echo and cardiac surgery, bioinformatics
