Job Description


Our lab focuses on studying the role of cohesion in carcinogenesis. We are developing a number of cohesion mutant mouse models to study hematopoiesis, sarcoma and leukemia. Our lab also implements high throughput screens of small molecular compounds to target cohesion mutant tumors and also uses a variety of preclinical models including cancer cell lines, patient-derived xenografts (PDXs), and Genetically engineered mouse models (GEMM) to characterize them. We are seeking highly motivated research associate, who is interested in translational cancer research with strong experience in mouse models and in the field of hematopoiesis .

Job Duties

  • Plans, directs and conducts research experiments.
  • Manages day to day laboratory operations including ordering, inventory, preparation of reagents etc.
  • Evaluates and analyzes data.
  • Must document results of experiments and reports to the PI Develops research techniques and performs applications required for specific projects.
  • May conduct literature searches and summarize information in an appropriate format for particular study.
  • May supervise, schedule and coordinate the activities of less experienced research staff.
  • Handles animal models, Genotyping and phenotyping of GEM models.
  • Performs/maintains therapeutic experiments using PDX models.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Basic Science or a related field.  Experience in lieu of degree will not be accepted.
  • Three years of relevant experience typically as a Research Assistant, Research Technician or Postdoctoral Fellow/Associate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Must have hands on experience in complex animal breeding, genotyping and phenotyping of GEM models.
  • Must have strong skills with handling animal models including performing/maintaining therapeutic experiments using PDX models and experience in hematological research.
  • Experience in FACS analysis is a plus.
  • Expected to work independently and also in a team environment.
