Job Description

The Theory Group in the Physics Division at Argonne National Laboratory is now seeking candidates for a postdoctoral position in nuclear theory that could begin as early as in Fall 2021. The focus for this position is ab initio nuclear structure theory, so prior experience in many-body theory for low-energy nuclear physics is desirable. Nevertheless, other areas of nuclear physics will also be considered.

The position is for two years, with the possibility of one additional year contingent upon funding and performance. Applications received on or before 23 July 2021 will receive full consideration.

The Theory Group currently has four staff members [Ian Cloët, Alessandro Lovato, Ragnar Stroberg, and Yong Zhao], as well as several postdocs and students. The Group has a broad-ranging research program in QCD/hadron physics and nuclear structure/reactions. The Group also has a developing program in quantum information science and AI, and is part of an Argonne Strategic LDRD for the Electron-Ion Collider. The Group has access to extensive Laboratory and National computational resources.

Further information on our group and its research activities can be found at: https://www.anl.gov/phy/theory and http://www.phy.anl.gov/theory/index.html.

1. Complete the application process at herein.

2. Email a curriculum vitae and a one-page statement of research interests to: Paula Dahlberg <pdahlberg@anl.gov>

3. Arrange for three letters of reference to be emailed to the same address.

All application materials should be sent in either plain text or PDF format and any questions may be sent to Ian Cloët <icloet@anl.gov>.
