Job Description


Laboratory research technician is required for day to day running of a dynamic research lab and assisting with patient sample processing, research project support, and maintaining biobanking records and sample storage. This position is key to several large projects and will support research for biobanking of patient samples for research studies of immune thrombocytopenia and sickle cell disease. The technician will also help carry out research experiments that are part of federally funded grants.

Job Duties

  • Provides responsible and skilled technical assistance in support of research projects studying molecular pathways related to sickle cell disease.
  • Prepares and conducts laboratory research experiments.
    • Molecular biology and tissue culture techniques.
  • Collects, compiles, and analyses data and maintains records.  
  • Documents results of experiments.
  • Enters data into research database.
  • Assists in the preparation of laboratory reports.  
  • Cleans equipment and work area.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with molecular biology and tissue culture techniques is preferred but not essential.
  • Must be be highly motivated and have good organizational skills.
