We invite you to apply for a Postdoctoral Appointee position within our Materials Science Division (MSD). 

The principal focus of this position centers on computational studies, including atomistic modeling and first principles calculations, of physical, chemical and electrochemical properties of battery electrolytes in the bulk phase and at the interface.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Considerable demonstrated experience in performing molecular dynamics (MD) simulations to study solvation structures and transport properties of liquid or soft materials is highly desirable.
  • Research experience with battery electrolytes and liquid-solid interfaces is strongly preferred.
  • The successful candidate will join a large diverse team with a background in physics, materials and chemistry.
  • Ph.D. in chemistry/chemical engineering/materials/physics or a related discipline.
  • Substantial experience in the study of structural and dynamic properties of electrolytes using MD simulations, with some experience in ab initio methods (e.g. DFT, AIMD) and scientific programming.
  • A record of accomplishment of peer-reviewed publications on computational and theoretical research, as well as good oral and written communication skills are also desired.
  • Teamwork skills are essential.
  • The candidate is expected to think and work independently and conduct research in a highly interdisciplinary environment of chemist, physicist and materials scientists.
  • Theoretical work will be closely collaborated with experimental colleagues.
