Job DescriptionJob Summary
With minimal supervision, repair, calibrate, and maintain medical equipment and support systems of varying complexity at Michigan Medicine. Primary area of responsibility is as part of the Operating Rooms support team on the main campus, and at ambulatory surgery centers. Equipment responsibility includes, but is not limited to, video and endoscopic systems, physiological monitors, anesthesia equipment, OR tables, OR Lights, infusion devices, and other equipment as assigned.

Work performed is documented in the work order database system called AIMS. Additional duties include the identification and preparation of parts and materials necessary to complete repairs and preventive maintenance on assigned devices. Cross training for other Biomedical Engineering Technicians for the purpose of expanded backup support is also required. Primary job site is at the main campus operating rooms and ambulatory surgery centers.
An Associate’s degree in Biomedical Engineering Technology, or equivalent Military training is required.
Knowledge and experience with advanced analog and digital electronics.
Experience with anesthesia equipment is preferred, but not required.
Minimum of 6 years of experience in the repair and maintenance of medical equipment, preferably in a hospital environment.
Technician must have a valid driver's licensed and be able to drive a motor vehicle.
