Postdoctoral Fellow in Molecular and Cellular Oncology (Liver Cancer)
Job posting number: #7076552
Posted: March 30, 2021
Application Deadline: April 29, 2021
Job DescriptionPost-doctoral Positions at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center Research Field: liver cancer
Disciplines: cancer early detection and prevention
Two postdoctoral positions are available immediately in Dr. Beretta’s Laboratory, Department of Molecular and Cellular Oncology, MD Anderson Cancer Center. The incidence of liver cancer is on the rise in the United States. The overall survival rate from this cancer is poor as most patients are diagnosed late and there are only limited therapeutic options available. Early detection and prevention are promising paths to reduce liver cancer mortality. A successful candidate will be part of a major translational research effort integrating diverse molecular profiles from genomics/metagenomics to metabolomics to identify novel targets for therapy, prevention and/or diagnosis, and validate them in preclinical mouse models and patient cohorts.
We are looking for highly-motivated and career-oriented individuals with a PhD or MD/PhD in biological sciences to work on projects related to liver cancer diagnosis or prevention and join our highly interactive research team. Candidates should have a strong research background in designing and performing experiments using molecular and cellular techniques, a strong ability to analyze large datasets and a strong knowledge of liver biology. Experience with mouse models is preferred. The candidate should have demonstrated competence with publications in internationally recognized journals.
Candidates should be enthusiastic and self-motivated, with strong problem solving and organizational skills. Candidates should also have strong communication skills to work in a highly collaborative team. Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in the field of Hepatology. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
We have a track record of training the best and the brightest postdoctoral fellows who have become exceptional independent group leaders in United States and other countries. The research environment at MD Anderson is outstanding and nurturing, especially for applicants who are interested in translational research and collaborations with clinical teams.
For full consideration, please send a cover letter containing information about your research interests and plans, an updated CV, and names and contact information of three references to:
