Job DescriptionTwo Post-Doc positions are currently available in Dr. Hu’s lab at the Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Cell Biology, West Virginia University (WVU). The lab focuses on mechanisms of epigenetic regulation of immune cells and cancer cells through integrative analysis of NGS multi-omics data (see Front Immunol 2019, PMID: 31849962 ; Immunity 2018, PMID:29466755; Nat Methods 2018, PMID: 30150754; Nat Immunology 2017, PMID: 28759003; Nat Immunology 2013, PMID: 24056746; Cell Stem Cell 2013, PMID: 23260488; Cell 2012, PMID: 23021216). We are particularly interested in epigenetic mechanisms of drug resistance of hematological cancers in the bone marrow microenvironment with a focus on chromatin regulators and transcription factors. Experimental Biologist Position: Strong candidates must have a PhD in the area of molecular and cell biology, cancer biology, or other related backgrounds. The qualified candidate should have strong communication skills, be self-motivated, detail oriented, able to work in a collaborative setting. He/she should be proficient in experimental skills including cell line culture, cell purification based on magnetic beads or FACS, RT-qPCR, ChIP-qPCR, western blot, apoptosis assays, proliferation assays, shRNA knockdown (stable and inducible), and other common procedures. The position also expects experience on building NGS libraries such as RNA-Seq and ChIP-Seq. Having first-author research publications in the field of chromatin biology based on NGS is a strong plus.
Computational Biologist Position: Strong candidates must have a PhD in the area of applied mathematics, bioinformatics, computational biology, or other related backgrounds. The candidate should have demonstrated strong programming skills on sequence analysis and machine learning. The lab will offer ample training opportunities to analyze various next-generation sequencing data, including but not limited to RNA-Seq, ChIP-Seq, ATAC-Seq, Hi-C, 16S rna-seq, microRNA, exome-seq and whole genome sequencing (WGS). The job also expects that the candidate devote 50% of time to promote team science across the university through collaborative research. Having first-author paper(s) in the field of sequence analysis is a strong plus.
