Job DescriptionJob Summary
The College of Nursing is seeking applications for a Data/Network Specialist. This position is responsible:
To the Technology Manager for the management, monitoring, and support of a Health IT networked environment and computer/network resources utilized by the students, faculty, and staff at the College of Nursing’s nurse managed clinics, especially at those which are not supported by ETSU’s Information Technology department;
For management, monitoring, and support of College of Nursing database driven resources which support academics, research, student services, and practice departments;
For producing information reports, and performing basic programming functions for template development
For performing other related duties as assigned.
Position is contingent upon sufficient funding.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of Windows desktop operating systems, Windows server operating systems, Windows security, Microsoft SQL, and Microsoft Software Update Services.
Knowledge of networking technologies and design.
Knowledge of internetworking, routing and switching protocols, vlans, VoIp, QoS, VPN, wireless networking, general security requirements, management protocol, etc.
Knowledge of network infrastructure including: structured cabling (EIA/TIA), environmental conditioning, power requirements, etc.
Knowledge of personal computers and related hardware and software.
Knowledge of database and information technology.
Knowledge of IT security.
Knowledge of programming fundamentals, user-interface design and intuition, and an understanding of medical workflows.
Knowledge of various web languages.
Knowledge of interpersonal and communication skills in technical and business arenas.
Ability to upgrade, configure, and troubleshoot network devices including routers, switches, firewalls, etc.
Ability to use various web editors, where appropriate.
Ability to design, develop, and implement application software and to supervise generation of reports.
Ability to plan, develop, and coordinate all phases of data processing.
Ability to travel and attend recurring training.
Ability to organize, plan, and manage projects effectively and have a customer service attitude.
Ability to communicate technical information effectively.
Ability to work unsupervised and manage multiple deadlines.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a health information technology field, with at least one year of computer/network related experience or health information technology experience.
Master’s degree in computer science or a health information technology field preferred
The following certifications are preferred: CCNP, CISSIP, VCP, MCSA, MCSE, MCITP, CompTIA Healthcare IT, or CompTIA Network+.
