Job Description

We invite you to apply for a Postdoctoral Appointee position within our Chemical Sciences and Engineering Division (CSE).

In this role you will:

  • Conduct research in heterogeneous catalysis for the fundamental understating of the activation of hydrocarbons macromolecules and upcycling of plastic waste.
  • Design, synthesize, and characterize new inorganic materials; in-situ characterization of reacting catalyst systems; and then evaluating the catalytic activity of these catalysts for the activation and functionalization of hydrocarbons.
  • Undergo more detailed studies towards understanding the reaction mechanisms and determining the reaction kinetics.

We expect you to have:

  • Knowledge in the synthesis of nanostructured materials, ex-situ and in-situ advance characterization, including synchrotron-based X-ray techniques, and testing of various types catalytic materials.
  • Kinetics and mechanistic analyses of heterogeneous catalysts are essential.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills is a requirement. 

This level of knowledge is typically achieved through a formal education in inorganic/material chemistry or chemical engineering at the Ph.D. degree level with 0 to 3 years of experience or equivalent in the scientific application of this knowledge and practical laboratory experience.
