Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Java Application Developer for the CyberLearning Innovation and Research Center (CIRC) in the School of Arts and Sciences.

Among the key duties of the position are the following:
• Estimates resource, skill & time requirements.
• Identifies tools and technologies.
• Participates in proofs-of-concept during initial phases of the projects.
• Develops Java/Java EE applications while providing expertise in the full software development lifecycle from concept and design to testing.

Minimum Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, software engineering, or related field or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
• A minimum of two (2) years of web application development experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Hands-on experience using MVC and Restful application architecture designs
• Must be able to provide hands-on software development experience as well as working experience in Java development.
• Must have hands-on experience in designing and developing applications using Java EE platforms, object-oriented analysis and design using common design patterns.
• Must have detailed working knowledge of Java and J2EE internals, e.g. class-loading, memory management, and transaction management.
• Excellent knowledge of relational databases, SQL and ORM technologies, e.g. JPA2 and Hibernate
• Experience developing web applications using at least one popular web framework, such as GWT or Spring MVC
• Experience with test-driven development
• Must have knowledge implementing security layers.
• Knowledge of SPA development using frameworks like AngularJS, jQuery, NodeJS and Grunt.
• Highly motivated, team-oriented, flexible, organized, detail- oriented, capable of on-the-job learning, and focused on completing projects in a timely manner.

• The Application Developer will be provided with a high end workstation and 2 monitors.
• The software required for development work as well as a number of robust testing platforms will be provided as needed and will be purchased by the center as needed.
