The Institute for Families at the Rutgers School of Social Work exists to advance the professional practice and knowledge base of individuals and organizations dedicated to improving the lives of children and families. As the largest Center within the School of Social Work, the organization leads a portfolio of $16M in programming and evaluation that increases the capacity of child welfare and human service systems, largely through training, technical assistance, applied research and evaluation services. In July of 2015, the New Jersey Department of Children and Families (DCF) awarded IFF a contract to design, implement, manage, maintain and support the New Jersey Department of Children and Families Data Hub (Data Hub). The Data Hub is a web application that provides greater transparency and understanding of child welfare practice and performance in New Jersey to a broad range of stakeholders. The goal of the Data Hub is to provide current and historical information on the demographics, status and outcomes of children and families who interact with DCF. The site includes multiple components (data portal, map, ad hoc reports) and multiple data sources (CP&P, CSOC).
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Application Developer for the Rutgers University School of Social Work. This position is responsible for implementing elements of the project, including data analysis and management (such as cleaning, aggregating, and interpreting data), developing SQL code, developing content for the site, assisting with integration of data with Google charts. Troubleshooting, developing methods for validity checking, qualify assurance, and customer service is needed for all phases of the project. This position is also responsible for the development, coordination, and aggregation of highly sensitive data, requiring objectivity, sensitivity, discretion, and a strong commitment to collaborative work with the partnering organization.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
• Coordinates and supervises work of other staff to produce the necessary outcomes on the Data Hub, as well as successful integration of features built by the Data Hub team.
• Ensures documentation for users and developers is maintained in accordance with internal and external standards.
• Regularly interacts with DCF, including bi-weekly meetings, conference calls and email communications.
