Job Purpose

Coordinates day to day activities of research protocols which include screening, enrollment, and monitoring of research participants. Ensures accurate data collection, documentation, organization and safety of research participants. Supervises, schedules and directs the activities of less experienced research personnel.

Job Duties

A full-time Senior Research Coordinator position is available immediately in the Li lab at Baylor College of Medicine and Dan L Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center. We are seeking a highly motivated professional with organizational, problem-solving, and leadership skills to conduct clinical research protocols under the supervision of the principal investigator (https://profiles.viictr.org/display/BCM/ang-li). The candidate should have prior research experience in clinical studies and at minimum a basic understanding of clinical oncology and/or bone marrow transplantation. Our research group focuses on observational studies to study complications related to cancer therapies using a variety of clinical epidemiology, health services, and translational approaches. Dr. Li is a physician scientist with a primary interest in the prevention and treatment of thrombotic complications in patients with invasive cancer receiving systemic therapy and/or undergoing bone marrow transplantation.   • Collaborates with the investigator and research team to implement research protocols
  • Interviews, screens, recruits, and when applicable, consents patients for minimal risk studies (registry studies, blood collection studies, etc)
  • Collects patient information, processes documents, and maintain information in a clinical database
  • Schedules research participant for tests and procedures specific for the research protocol
  • Contacts patients as specified throughout the study
  • Assists investigator in orientation of new research staff
  • Creates, maintains, and manages research data and regulatory documents
  • Colloaborates with departmental administrative staff to update study budgets and contracts
  • Prepares submission and renewal of IRB applications 
  • Prepares informed consents/assents for study at appropraite language level
  • Assists clinical staff in monitoring and reporting of adverse events
  • Assists investigator in submission of grant applications
  • Oversees the collection and processing of research samples
  • Organizes specimen processing instructions for research specimens
  • Organizes supplies and equipment needed for obtaining, processing and shipping, and storage of research samples
  • Assists clinical staff in collection of research specimens and test/procedures
  • May collect, process, ship, and maintain paperwork for blood and/or biological specimens
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education Required: Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • Experience Required: Five years of relevant experience.
  • Certification/Licenses/Registration: None Required.
