Job DescriptionThe Department of Surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital seeks an Associate Director to support the growing Patient-Reported Outcomes, Value, and Experience (PROVE) Center to play an integral role in the research and educational mission of the Department. The successful applicant will have expertise in the scholarship of teaching and learning and will serve as a faculty member in the Department of Surgery, with specific responsibility for advancing the PROVE Centers strategic focus on enhancing the quality of surgical care through collection, analysis and reporting of patient-reported data. The candidate should have good leadership qualities to supervise the PROVE team in the development and implementation of patient-reported outcome measures in routine clinical practice, comparative-effectiveness research, and determination of healthcare value.
Qualified candidates should have a sufficiently established track record demonstrating scholarly attributes to qualify for Harvard Medical School appointment. This full-time appointment will be at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, depending on the previous experience of the appointee.
The position requires a PhD in health services research, psychometrics, public health or other appropriate fields of science. The successful applicant will have expertise in at least one of the following: psychometrics, biostatistics, qualitative research methods, comparative-effectiveness research, implementation science. Candidates must possess time management and organizational skills including the ability to work independently and, on several projects, simultaneously while meeting project deadlines. The successful candidate should also possess excellent team building, interpersonal, and diplomatic skills, as well as the ability to work with and mentor trainees at bachelor’s or graduate level, surgeons, and surgical trainees.
