Job Description

Summary

The Molecular Neurobiology Group at Baylor College of medicine in the Department of Neuroscience and at the Memory and Brain Research Center is seeking a well-qualified and motivated bio-informatician. Our laboratory uses the mouse model system to understand the genetic and molecular events that give rise to functional neural circuits controlling behavior and physiology. We are seeking applicants that have a strong background in statistics, programming, and database management. Experience in R and Python is desired. Dataset consist of Cardio-Respiratory waveforms and behavioral data on assays such as the elevated plus maze, open field and light dark choice.

Job Purpose

Performs the routine elements of research work that requires the use of skills, technical and academic knowledge to follow established procedures and record results.

Job Duties
  • Prepare and conduct laboratory research experiments.
  • Collect, compile and analyze data.
  • Conduct literature searches and summarizes information in an appropriate format for a particular study.
  • Document results of experiments.
  • Selecs, evaluate and apply techniques used in routine research.
  • Order laboratory supplies and equipment.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education Required: Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • Experience Required: One year of relevant experience.
  • Certification/Licenses/Registration: None Required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education Preferred: Master's degree in a related field.
