Job Description


The  Research Coordinator will participate in daily research activities which include a variety of job duties centered on participant interaction, technical computer work, working with regulatory bodies (Institutional Review Board) and working collaboratively with investigators, clinicians, and community partners and members.

Job Purpose

Coordinates day-to-day activities of research protocols, which include screening, enrollment, and monitoring of research participants. Ensures accurate data collection, documentation, organization and safety of research participants. Ensures that project goals and objectives are accomplished in accordance with priorities, time limitations, funding limitations or other specifications.

Job Duties
  • Interview, screen, and recruit participants for studies: explains process and procedures to educate participant regarding the research study and obtain informed consent.
  • Collect data and documents from participants and enter information into a database.
  • May collect (point-of-care devices), process, and maintain paperwork for blood and/or biological specimens according to procedures outlines in study protocol. May obtain vital signs and measure anthropometrics (weight, height, waist circumference) on participants. On the job training for these activities will be provided.
  • Maintain records and regulatory documents for research studies
  • Schedule research participants for tests and procedures such as lab tests, intervention sessions, and other studies specific for the research protocol.
  • Facilitate relationships with clinics and other community-based resources.
  • Work with principal investigator to complete IRB protocols, modifications, and continuing reviews.
  • Coordinate project meetings, meeting minutes and presentations.
  • Correspond and act as liaison for participants, investigators, IRB, sponsors, and healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain project resources, including facilitate orders for supplies and equipment.
  • Assist in developing manuscripts, progress reports, and grants, by developing data tables, conducting literature reviews, and manuscript formatting.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education Required: High School diploma or GED.
  • Experience Required: Three years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in psychology, human biology, kinesiology, or health related field
  • Proficient (reading, writing, and speaking) in Spanish.
    Work is centered in the Hispanic population, it is necessary for obtaining parental consent, recruitment, data collection, and overall project management, that the research coordinator speak Spanish.
