Job Description

Summary

The Samee Lab at Baylor College of Medicine is recruiting a Machine Learning Programmer. The candidate should have strong understanding of machine learning algorithms and experience with machine learning programming in Python (proficient in scikit-learn/caret, Keras, TensorFlow). The candidate will be responsible for analysis and modeling of single-cell genomics data. Prior background in molecular biology and genomics is a plus. Experienced candidates will have the opportunity to initiate their own independent research project (see below). The Samee Lab develops computational algorithms utilizing machine learning and comparative genomics approaches to answer questions in regulatory genomics, especially mechanistic questions that relate to human physiology and disease.

Job Duties
  • Prepares detailed specifications and algorithms for genome sequence analysis from which programs will be written.
  • Applies existing custom bioinformatics software to both well-defined and moderately complex genome analysis problems.
  • Designs, codes, tests, debugs, and maintains programs and research software for genome sequence analysis applications.
  • Researches, assesses, imports, configures, and customizes third-party bioinformatics software.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Biological Science, or a related field.
  • Experience Required: None Required.
