Job Description

Summary

Faculty member in the Department of Pediatric Infectious Diseases is seeking a research technician with excellent collaboration and communication skills. Our research is aimed at understanding the responses of bone marrow and hematopoietic stem cells to infection using molecular and cellular biology techniques. Applicants must be comfortable working with laboratory animals and blood. Opportunities for independence and rapid advancement commensurate with abilities.

Job Duties
  •     General lab duties such as ordering, restocking solutions, washing dishes, and autoclaving pipette tips.
  •     Standard molecular biology techniques including PCR, cloning, RNA isolation, ELISA.
  •     Animal work including mouse breeding, weaning, genotyping, and bleeding.
  •     Conduct simple experiments with supervision.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education Required: Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • Experience Required: None Required.
  • Certification/Licenses/Registration: None Required.
Preferred Qualifications
  •     Master's degree in a related field.
  •     One year or more related work experience in biomedical sciences research.
  •     Prior experience with mouse colony maintenance, flow cytometry, and maintenance of tissue culture cell lines.
