Job Description


The Research Associate in Poche Lab will provide expertise in mouse retinal developmental biology, regeneration, and transcriptome analysis. The employee is expected to have a strong technical background in mouse genetics and in techniques to probe the retinal transcriptome and epigenome. Specifically, this expertise will include utilization of genetic loss- and gain-of-function experiments, fate mapping, gene therapy, molecular biology, live retinal confocal microscopy, and next gen sequencing (RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, single cell-seq, etc.) data analysis. The research associate is also expected to mentor junior lab members, assist in grant applications, and publish original research.

Job Duties
  • Plans, directs and conducts research experiments.
  • Evaluates and analyzes data.
  • Develops research techniques and performs applications required for specific research projects.
  • May conduct literature searches and summarize information in an appropriate format for a particular study.
  • Documents results of experiments and reports to principal investigators.
  • May supervise, schedule and coordinate the activities of less experienced research staff.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education Required: Master's degree in Basic Science or a related field.  Experience in lieu of degree will not be accepted.
  • Experience Required: Three years of relevant experience typically as a Research Assistant, Research Technician or Postdoctoral Fellow/Associate.
  • Certification/Licenses/Registration: None Required.
