Job Description


Performs responsible research work of a complex nature that requires establishing test methods and procedures as well as planning, completing, and occasionally supervising limited research projects in accordance with general plans approved by the supervisor.  Perform the testing on study test samples, Interpret test results, monitor assay performance, enter data into laboratory database and prepare result reports using PCR and RT PCR techniques.  Coordinates day to day activities of research protocols which include screening, enrollment, and monitoring of research participants. Ensures accurate data collection, documentation, organization and safety of research participants.

Job Duties
  • Plans, and conducts testing on study samples.
  • Evaluates and analyzes data.
  • Monitors assay performance.
  • Conducts experiments to support the PCR unit.  
  • Documents results of experiments and reports to principal investigators.
  • Enters data in laboratory database,.
  • Trains and orients less experienced research staff.
  • Assists with the QA/QC program and preparing for site visits.
  • Oversees the maintenance of lab equipment and environment.
  • Interviews, screen and recruits patients for study; explains process and procedures to educate participant regarding the research study.
  • Collects patient information; processes documents and enters information into a database..
  • May collect, process, ship, and maintain paperwork for biological samples according to procedures outlined in study protocol.
  • Receives and processes samples from clinical sites.
  • Creates procedures for uploading and entering data to database
  • Prepares and conducts basic laboratory research experiments
  • Maintains records and regulatory documents and records for research studies.
  • May correspond with patient throughout study.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education Required: Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or a related field. 
  • Experience Required: Three years of relevant experience.
  • Certification/Licenses/Registration: None Required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Some lab experience and interest in diagnostic testing.
  • Experience with DNA/RNA extraction, qPCR.
  • Must have excellent organizational, time-management, and interpersonal skills, and will be self-motivated, reliable, efficient, methodical, and show an attention to detail. 
  • Need to be able to work independently and follow both oral and written instructions
  • Willingness to have a flexible work schedule
