A postdoctoral fellow position is available in the Genomic Medicine Institute at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner Research Institute in the Bekris lab (https://www.lerner.ccf.org/gmi/research/).
The Bekris lab is a clinical translation laboratory that focuses on identifying and evaluating the functional impact of genetic and epigenetic factors on biomarkers in Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative disorder. The lab is also part of the Cleveland Alzheimer's Disease Research Center and is supported by multiple grants and funding resources.
Recent PhDs with a degree in molecular biology or related field as well as a background in computational epigenetics, experimental epigenomics or biomarkers of disease are encouraged to apply.
The project available for the successful post-doctoral applicant involves characterization of amyloid precursor protein processing and the relationship with TREM2 function in a variety of neurological disorders. Previous hands on experience handling human biospecimens and cell lines is a plus including experience with reporter assays, cloning, bisulfite converted targeted DNA sequencing, RNA sequencing, qRT-PCR and bead-based ELISA assays as well as familiarity with widely-used publicly available databases and related software tools.
The candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as a publication record. In addition, the candidate must be capable of working within a team of molecular biologists, bioinformaticians and clinicians.
