Job DescriptionMinimum Education and Experience
Requires High School graduation or equivalent and six months of experience in scientific research work. Working knowledge of the various types of equipment in use in the laboratory to which assigned. Extreme accuracy in preparing materials and recording data. Normal laboratory conditions. Sometimes requires working with hazardous equipment and materials or in hazardous environments.
Preferred Education and Experience
Bachelors degree is preferred. Candidates should be highly organized and motivated. They should ideally have hands on experience in genetics, molecular and/or cell biology. Preference will be given to candidates having experience in Drosophila.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The individual will be responsible for preparing bacterial plates, stock buffers, preparing Drosophila food and maintaining Drosophila stocks weekly, as well take care of day to day laboratory management, such as ordering and receiving inventories. The candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to publications in the field of developmental and cell biology.
