Job DescriptionThe experimental Soft Matter Group in the Institute for Advanced Study of Shenzhen University seeks to appoint 2-3 distinguished postdocs, starting in December 2019 or earlier. The group is interested in a broad range of soft matter problems, with an emphasis on developing new colloids with controllable shape and site-specific chemistry, and investigating their self-assembly, phase behavior, pattern formation and dynamics under static, dynamic and active forces. We employ a multidisciplinary approach, exploiting skills and tools from Physics, Chemistry, Engineering and Materials Science, which includes colloidal synthesis and functionalization, electric and magnetic field, optical/electron microscopy, rheology and micro-rheology, particle localization and tracking, soft lithography and microfluidics. Qualified applicants should (1) Receive a doctoral degree from Physics, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or other related disciplines; (2) Have a record of research excellence; (3) Be able to conduct research on one or more of the following topics: colloidal synthesis, self-assembly under external fields, phase behavior, active matter, rheology and microrheology; (4) Have one or more of the above mentioned research skills; and (5) Have excellent skills in writing, team management and coordination.
This is a fixed-term position for 2-3 years. The salary will be 340,000RMB (~50,000USD)/year or more, depending on qualification. Chinese candidates may be eligible for additional tax-free house allowance of 1,600,000 RMB(*), distributed in 5 years. The positions will be open until filled. *Applicants are eligible for a house allowance of 1,600,000RMB for Chinese citizens if they satisfy one of the following conditions
1. The candidate has oversea research experiences and within the past five years, the applicant has published no less than 3 articles in JCR Q1 as the first author (including equally contributed first author) or the only corresponding author.
2. The applicant completed his/her PhD from a world renowned University (top 150) within 5 years.
