Microscopy Facility Manager
Princeton , NJ
Job posting number: #7057221
Posted: May 7, 2019
Application Deadline: May 31, 2019
Job DescriptionPrinceton University is seeking a scientific staff member to help run a new super-resolution microscopy facility. This HHMI-funded facility will house up to a half-dozen advanced light microscopes, with a particular focus on super-resolution light microscopy approaches, including STED, STORM, AiryScan, and SoRa, as well as techniques including fluorescence correlation spectroscopy (FCS), and life-time imaging (FLIM).
The facility will be located within the laboratory of Professor Cliff Brangwynne, who will be faculty manager of the facility. This position will train and assist student and postdoc users of the facility, helping them to design their imaging experiments (e.g. choosing microscopy modalities, selecting fluorophores) and maximize quality of imaging data. The manager will facilitate scheduling microscope use, and also interface with vendors to ensure that microscopes are well-maintained, including scheduling routine maintenance. There is also the possibility of designing some small custom microscopy setups as needed for particularly novel/challenging imaging applications.
The microscopy facility manager will interface closely with members of the Brangwynne lab, as well as other facility users.
Candidates should have a PhD in a related field, although candidates without a PhD may be considered if they have significant (multiple years) hands-on experience with advanced microscopy applications. Applications are accepted online at https://www.princeton.edu/acad-positions/position/10921 and must include a cover letter, curriculum vitae, and the names and contact information of three references.
