Job DescriptionPostdoctoral Research Fellow
The Basic Science Research Group of the Department of Dermatology at Columbia University is seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral research scientist with an interest in the study of genetic hair and skin disorders to join the research efforts of Dr. Angela Christiano. The major focus of our research is to understand the molecular mechanisms that control skin and hair morphogenesis and differentiation by studying the manner in which these processes are perturbed in human skin diseases. Dr. Christiano’s lab uses mouse models of these disorders to probe biological processes.
The postdoctoral research scientist will perform research studies involving immunological responses and epigenetics of alopecia areata. He/she will use a combination of immunology-based assays and proteomic analysis to screen for potential autoantigens and their epitopes in the skin of alopecia areata affected patients and mice. Prospective applicants should have a Ph.D. or M.D./ Ph.D. in molecular biology and/or immunology and have at least two years of successful research at the postdoctoral level. Applicants should also possess strong laboratory, analytical, interpersonal and communication skills.
Applicants are requested to submit a cover letter, C.V. and names, e-mail addresses and phone numbers of 3 references to Dr. Angela Christiano at email@example.com and Angela Warren at firstname.lastname@example.org.
