The Duke Molecular Physiology Institute (DMPI), a part of Duke University Medical Center, occupies a place of national and international leadership in the fight against major diseases. The DMPI is a multi- and inter-disciplinary Institute at Duke University encompassing basic and translational investigators across a variety of scientific disciplines. Our mission is to produce integrated multi-omics and physiologic profiles of chronic human diseases, and to use such profiles to develop new disease detection strategies, novel therapies, and insights into disease mechanisms. We are currently seeking a highly motivated individual with relevant skills for a new Postdoctoral Associate position.

The post-doctoral associate will lead a collaborative project between the White-McGarrah and Newgard Labs at the Duke Molecular Physiology Institute. This project involves investigating novel metabolic mechanisms of cardiovascular disease and will include physiologic and metabolic characterization of new mouse lines using state of the art approaches. Research in the White-McGarrah Lab relate to the integrative physiology of metabolism with an emphasis on liver and heart function and the metabolic crosstalk that exists between these two vital organs in the settings of obesity and heart-failure.

The candidate requires a PhD in Physiology or related disciplines. Previous experience with animal models and molecular biology is required. Candidates should be highly self-motivated, enjoy working in a team environment, and have strong verbal and written English skills.
