Job Description

Inaugural postdoctoral position at MyoKardia investigating the implications of various myofilament mutations in both normal and pathological cardiac development. MyoKardia is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company that seeks to improve patient’s lives by both pioneering a precision medicine approach to discover targeted therapies for the treatment of serious/rare cardiovascular disease, as well as by increasing the scientific understanding of normal and pathological cardiac function.

As such, a joint research group between MyoKardia and its academic founders is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral candidate with a background in cardiovascular genetics, biochemistry, physiology, and/or structural biology to join the organization. The work, expected to encompass a two-year tenure, intends to leverage novel large animal models of inherited sarcomere-driven diseases, the Sarcomeric Human Cardiomyopathy Registry (SHaRe), and protein-specific sarcomere functional modulators to further the understanding of the role that sarcomere proteins/mutations play in healthy and pathological cardiac development.

• Independently manage project/experiments, ranging from design and execution to reporting
• Be an active contributor to MyoKardia’s scientific process
• Active contributor to MyoKardia’s peer-reviewed dissemination (e.g., publications, conferences, etc.)
• Build/facilitate a strong academic/collaborative environment, both intra- and extra-murally.

PhD and/or MD with demonstrable laboratory experience in cardiovascular genetics, biochemistry, physiology, and/or structural biology

• Strong record of accomplishment and publications
• Demonstrable ex vivo toolset, with (ideally) hands-on in vivo experience, particularly in large animals
• Effective communication skills
• A high degree of independence
• Ability to work as a member of a collaborative team
