As a Lead Radiology Technologist, you will promote a positive team experience and work directly with our community by providing excellent care. Your duties will include but are not limited to: 

• Performing Radiology exams and Fluoroscopic procedures on patients of all ages while maintaining patient safety. 

• Scheduling routine preventative maintenance on equipment. 

• Training, counseling, and evaluating performance of employees. 

• Scheduling work assignments and preparing the master schedule.

Responsibilities:

•Under the direction of the Clinical Manager, supervises and coordinates work activities of assigned personnel.
•Schedules work assignments and prepares master schedule.
•May perform payroll time sheet for employees.
•Trains, counsels, disciplines, and evaluates performance of employees.
•Assists with interviewing applicants and recommends selection.
•Maintains procedure manual and communicates changes to staff.
•Assists with all policies and procedures required by local, state, or federal law.
•Assists with compliance or credentialing bodies (ACR, MQSA, Medicare, Medicaid, FDA, etc.).
•Assists with instrument calibration and records to ensure compliance with quality assurance requirements.
•Ensures and maintains quality control in regards to patient care and equipment usage.
•Ensures quality assurance tests are performed daily/weekly and all policies and procedures are adhered to.
•Provides technical direction with complex cases and problem solving.
•Schedules routine preventative maintenance on equipment to meet safety and regulatory standards.
•Instructs other area personnel in Radiation Protection, as needed, and ensures their safety.
•Performs general radiology, portable, and fluoroscopic procedures (GIs, GUs, pediatrics, arthrograms, spine center).
•Produces images of optimal quality for interpretation with accuracy and without delay.
•Maintains documentation requirements to ensure that all technical data is entered timely and accurately.
•Educates patients regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure understanding and cooperation.
•Ensure patients' comfort and safety during and after the exam. May assist with scheduling of patients as needed.
•Demonstrates the care and operation of Radiology equipment according to technical specifications and applications.
•Notifies management and takes proper action to address equipment malfunctions.
•Assists Radiologist with fluoroscopic, GU, GI, and pediatric procedures.
•Monitors all appointments scheduled for examinations; performs preliminary research on patient when preparations are not provided; determines priority of patients based on the daily schedules.
•Knowledgeable in acquiring, archiving, transmitting, and printing images via PACS, when applicable, knowledgeable in after hours transmission of images and appropriate paperwork – immediately reports any malfunctions to help desk and PACS Administrator.
•Knowledgeable in billing via RIS.
•Ensures exam rooms are adequately supplied with linen and related medical supplies.
•Participates in on-going training of technologists and students.
•Provides orientation of new employees and in-service education.
•Provides technical assistance to physicians, technologist and students.
•Reviews processed films/scans to determine quality and need for additional images.
•Continually strives to learn new technical information and skills through attendance of periodic in-service programs and participation in professional affiliation sessions.
•May be required to rotate through all diagnostic imaging modalities, sites and/or locations.
•Other duties as assigned.

Education:

•Graduate of an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology.

Certifications:

•Must be a Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists R.T.(R) (ARRT), in good standing.
•Current state licensure (RL) required prior to employment.
•Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Complexity of Work:

•Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision.
•Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Work Experience:

•Minimum 2 years recent modality experience.
•Ability to direct, evaluate and supervise others.

Physical Requirements:

•Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.
•Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.

Personal Protective Equipment:

•Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
