Summary

The Dan L Duncan Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR) provides a learning environment at Baylor College of Medicine that integrates data from diverse domains including the electronic medical record, geospatial and social information, and next generation technologies to support research, development, and implementation of new approaches to patient care. The ICTR is currently seeking a Research Associate to assist with designing project modules and training material. This role will assist others in navigating the clinical and translational research environment.

The Research Associate will work with investigators from the Consortium for Translational and Precision Health (CTPH), a partnership between Baylor College of Medicine and the University of Houston, to support clinical and translational science studies. project evaluation, trial simulation, and planning activities. This position is an opportunity to work with a high functioning, cutting edge team that will study, understand, and improve translational science. This position requires a person with clinical trial design expertise and regulatory experience in working with IRBs, master/standard agreements and various grant mechanisms and funding agencies. Autonomy, creativity, and critical thinking skills are strongly encouraged and welcomed.

This is a grant funded position to support the Consortium for Translational and Precision Health (CTPH). The duration is seven (7) years with the possibility of an additional seven (7) year competing renewal.

Location: Texas Medical Center. After the training period, this position may become eligible for an Alternative Work Arrangement (AWA/Hybrid) schedule.

Job Duties

  • Serve as a liaison between investigators and different resources and services offered by CTPH and the partnering institutions.
  • Support investigators by offering varying levels of assistance to satisfy their specific needs for implementation of their research projects. The spectrum of support can range from general assistance to more customized help and collaborative interaction.
  • Consult and advise research teams regarding preparation and maintenance of new tools or methods to support study designs.
  • Identify areas of opportunity for investigators and CTPH by streamlining processes, implement changes, and assess the impact on the overall process for conducting clinical and translational studies.
  • Contribute to the development of content for the CTPH.
  • Recommend programming changes to improve outcomes.
  • Maintain databases, track performance and outcome metrics, and analyze data to uncover trends in research productivity.
  • Liaison between CTPH PIs (Principal Investigators), Study Coordinators, research support personnel.
  • Assist investigators with development of recruitment strategies for specific studies.
  • Advise the CTPH leadership on program activities, needs, obstacles, progress, and ensure study results are shared with the advisory board and community stakeholders.
  • Performother duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Basic Science or a related field.Experience in lieu of degree will not be accepted.
  • Three years of relevant experience typically as a Research Assistant, Research Technician or Postdoctoral Fellow/Associate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with local and/or single IRB policies and submissions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Proficient with SharePoint, collaborating and co-authoring of documents.
  • Is knowledgeable of and complies with current Good Clinical Practice Guidelines.
