Department SummaryThe UNT Health Science Center Clinical Practice Group is the academic practice plan for the Health Science Center. Focused on primary care and improving health outcomes to all to build a healthier community, UNTHSC Clinical Practice Group has 13 unique clinics on the UNTHSC campus. Select specialties are aligned with key educational and clinical objectives supporting our primary care focus. In each clinic, an interprofessional team works collaboratively to achieve an optimized treatment plan tailored to the individual patient. The UNTHSC Clinical Practice Group as an interdisciplinary team of primary care and specialty care providers who are dedicated to improving the health and quality of life of our patients through patient-centered clinical care, research and the education of health profession students.
Position Overview
HSC Health Family Medicine is seeking a compassionate Medical Assistant to join our dynamic team of healthcare providers at the University of North Texas Health Science Center. This role requires a candidate with strong organizational skills, a diverse set of interests and skill set, and strong interpersonal communication abilities. Candidate must exhibit compassion, understanding, the ability to work well in teams, and the ability to function in a fast-paced environment is critical for this position.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
Completion of accredited Medical Assistant Program
Six (6) months of customer service experience

Preferred Qualifications
Medical Assistant certification is recommended.Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program and one (1) year of demonstrated clinical office experience including clinical care delivery and related back-office experience or relevant educational experience.
Required License / Registration / Certification
Medical Assistant certification, and CPR (BLS) certification.

Job Duties
o
Measure patient vital signs as standard of care. Perform procedures, injections, and administer vaccines as ordered by the provider. All care documented in the electronic health record
o
Optimize patient scheduling by managing patient flow and providing access to care. Following standard Department workflows.
o
Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean. Clean and sterilize instruments and properly dispose of contaminated or expired medical supplies.
o
Perform and process routine laboratory tests and sample analyses as ordered by provider.
o
Thoroughly complete provider orders, referrals, and insurance authorizations to ensure timely delivery of care and provide patient with educational material.
o
Deliver culturally competent care that respects each patient’s individual beliefs.
