Summary

This is a Research position for candidates interested in biomedical imaging techniques. Under supervision, the technician will be able to perform a variety of functions necessary in the daily operation of the small animal-imaging facility (SAIF). They will be part of a team that delivers high quality, state of the art preclinical research techniques and procedures. They will be responsible for supporting a wide range of animal research. 

Job Duties

• Assists with a variety of functions necessary in the daily operation of the small animal-imaging facility. 
• Assists with imaging procedures, animal handling, image analysis, experimental records, maintaining supplies, and compliance with institutional regulations.
• Coordinates the procurement of supplies, animals, and equipment used for daily operations of the imaging center.
• Ensures adequate inventory of supplies required in imaging and procedure rooms.
• Prepares animals for imaging procedures and experiments, based upon SOPs for each modality.
• Performs imaging procedures and image analysis.
• Restrains, bleeds, administers injections, analgesia, detailed dissection, performs necropsies, and euthanasia of rats and mice.
• Assists with the creation, revision, and maintenance of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for animal imaging procedures.
• Ensures imaging facility rooms are sanitized in accordance with TCH, BCM, and other regulatory agencies as applicable.
• Inputs imaging and technical service charges into the billing / tracking system. 
• Maintains annual regulatory training and/or competency assessment as required.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
• No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with biomedical imaging is a plus.
• Has computer technical skills, proficient word processing, spreadsheets.
• Has experience with scientific research and experimentation.
