Job Description
Summary
This is a Research position for candidates interested in biomedical imaging techniques. Under supervision, the technician will be able to perform a variety of functions necessary in the daily operation of the small animal-imaging facility (SAIF). They will be part of a team that delivers high quality, state of the art preclinical research techniques and procedures. They will be responsible for supporting a wide range of animal research.
Job Duties
- Assists with a variety of functions necessary in the daily operation of the small animal-imaging facility.
- Assists with imaging procedures, animal handling, image analysis, experimental records, maintaining supplies, and compliance with institutional regulations.
- Coordinates the procurement of supplies, animals, and equipment used for daily operations of the imaging center.
- Ensures adequate inventory of supplies required in imaging and procedure rooms.
- Prepares animals for imaging procedures and experiments, based upon SOPs for each modality.
- Performs imaging procedures and image analysis.
- Restrains, bleeds, administers injections, analgesia, detailed dissection, performs necropsies, and euthanasia of rats and mice.
- Assists with the creation, revision, and maintenance of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for animal imaging procedures.
- Ensures imaging facility rooms are sanitized in accordance with TCH, BCM, and other regulatory agencies as applicable.
- Inputs imaging and technical service charges into the billing / tracking system.
- Maintains annual regulatory training and/or competency assessment as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
- No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with biomedical imaging is a plus.
- Has computer technical skills, proficient word processing, spreadsheets.
- Has experience with scientific research and experimentation.
