The Department of Population Health Sciences in the Medical College of Georgia (MCG) at Augusta University (AU) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Biostatistics and Data Science at the Assistant or Associate Professor level to start in Fall 2023. Academic rank will be commensurate with experience. Interest and ability in methodological research in Biostatistics & Data Science and active collaboration with other investigators in biomedical, population health, and translational research within and outside of AU, as well interest and ability in teaching a variety of graduate level statistics and data science courses will be important factors in the selection of candidates. The positions will remain open until filled.

Responsibilities
Conduct methodological research in Biostatistics and Data Science
Engage in collaborative research with other investigators in biomedical, public health, and translational research within and outside of AU
Publish methodological work in excellent peer reviewed journals of the field
Demisseminate collaborative work by publishing collaborative masnjucsripts in relevant peer reviewed journals
Pursue extramural funding opportunities
Provide services to the department and the institution.
Teach courses offered in the department's various graduate programs and mentor graduate students in these programs.

Required Qualifications
The candidate for this position must have a Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Data Science, Statistics or closely related field. The candidate must have the PhD degree in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Data Science, Statistics or closely related field by the time when the appointment starts. The candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

Assistant Professor- Early level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate training

Associate Professor- Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.

Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:

Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
Evidence of ability as a teacher;
Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

Shift/Salary/Benefits
This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.

The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.

Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.

Associate Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.

College/Department Information
The Department of Population Health Sciences in MCG is the home of the Division of Biostatistics and Data Science, Division of Epidemiology, and the Division of Health Economics and Policy. It offers pre- and postdoctoral training programs in Biostatistics and Master's degree program in Data Science, in Clinical Translational Science and Epidemiology. The new faculty member will join a highly interdisciplinary faculty and will play an integral role in the ongoing expansion of research and education at AU. The academic departments, and centers and institutes such as the Center for Biotechnology and Genomic Medicine, Cyber Institute, Georgia Cancer Center, Institute of Public and Preventive Health and Sickle Cell Center provide rich opportunities for interdisciplinary research.

The Medical College of Georgia is one of the nation's largest medical schools by class size, with 260 students per class. The educational experience is anchored by the main campus in Augusta, regional clinical campuses for third- and fourth-year students across the state and a second four-year campus in Athens in partnership with the University of Georgia. MCG's expanding partnerships with physicians and hospitals across Georgia currently provides about 350 sites where students can experience the full spectrum of medicine, from complex care hospitals to small-town solo practices.
