Responsibilities:

• Supervises exercise activities, monitors exercising participants and interacts with members to ensure that exercise programs are carried out in a safe and effective manner.
• Creates, implements and evaluates incentive programs to enhance exercise adherence and retention.
• Assists with the development and instruction of group exercise classes.
• Teaches participants on class method, purpose and procedures. Carries out other projects and duties as assigned by department supervisor.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education:

• High School Diploma or GED. Bachelor's Degree required.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in exercise-related field preferred.

Languages:

• N/A

Certifications:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• First-Aid, ACE and CSCS preferred.

• Appropriate certification as determined by classes, e.g., NDEITA, ACE, or any current professional certification from a nationally recognized organization in the health/fitness industry preferred.

Complexity of Work:

• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Work Experience:

• One year experience in a Fitness Center environment with a background in program management and/or exercise testing desirable.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to maneuver, carry, lift, bend, stoop, swim, walk and sit for extended periods of time.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
