Job Description
Summary
The Sheth lab is looking for a motivated Research Technician to support efforts toward developing an adaptive deep brain stimulation system for treating refractory obsessive-compulsive disorder. This work is part of a large collaborative NIH UH3 clinical trial.
Job Duties
- Curates neural (EEG + LFP), video, audio, and behavioral task data.
- Evaluates neural data quality (assesses impact of deep brain stimulation artifacts and packet loss) and troubleshoots equipment as needed.
- Debugs and improves existing MATLAB neural and behavioral data analysis code.
- Provides technical assistance (phone/tablet application related or device related) to human study participants collecting data at home.
- Communicates with collaborators that are using neural and video data to make sure their needs are met.
- Tracks participants data collection at home to monitor completion of at home tasks and analyzes the completion of data using Python code.
- Works with clinical team to monitor compliance and follows up directly with participants to encourage and sustain compliance with at home recordings.
- Conducts experiments at monthly patient visits to collect neural data while modulating stimulation (“adaptive testing”).
- Assists with other lab studies/trials/needs as they arise.
- Prepares and conducts laboratory research experiments.
- Collects, compiles and analyzes data.
- Conducts literature searches and summarizes information in an appropriate format for a particular study.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
- No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in research lab is a plus.
- Experience with MATLAB/Python and neural data analysis is desirable.
