Job Description
Summary
The Eberlin Laboratory at the Department of Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a Research Technician I to perform routine elements of laboratory tasks and device prototyping that requires the use of basic technical and laboratory skills. The Research Technician I will be a motivated, organized, and team-oriented individual who is comfortable working with other scientists in a research laboratory focused on translational biomedical research.
Job Duties
- Prepares materials and supplies for laboratory research experiments.
- Helps maintain research instrumentation (i.e., mass spectrometers and 3D printers).
- Helps produce and develop research devices (i.e., masspec pen devices and sources).
- Helps maintain the organization of the laboratory.
- Orders supplies as needed.
- Helps organize laboratory activities.
- Interfaces with clinical providers to receive samples – surgeons, pathologists, nurses, doctors.
- Assists research staff conducting research experiments.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Two years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
- One year of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
- Chemistry major is desirable.
