Job Description

Job Summary:
Installs, maintains, repairs and troubleshoots network cabling facilities to ensure optimum network usage and quality.

Duties/Physical Demands:
Install voice, data, security and video cabling for inside plant service, and estimate hours and materials needed for installation projects.
Responsible for installing new conduit systems in new construction and renovations and ensure standards.
Maintains cabling test records, CAD print documentation, plant labeling and documentation.
Maintains inventory of tools and materials.
Reviews cabling work performed by outside contractors to ensure that guidelines and timelines are met.
Performs adds, moves, and changes in coordination with telephony contractor(s) and Information Technology Field Services.
Meet with departments to assist in planning move, add, and change work as required.
Install, inspect and maintain firestopping in inside plant conveyance.

Minimum Qualifications:
Requires and at least three years of training beyond high school (gained concurrently or at any time) and three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


Knowledge of installing, maintaining, and inspecting data, voice, security and video cabling

Special Instructions to Applicants:
Physical effort usually requires considerable walking, standing, and lifting materials weighing 25 to 50 pounds. Somewhat unpleasant working conditions. Some exposure to several unpleasant elements which are particularly disagreeable.
