Job Description
The Computer Science Department is seeking a full-time tenure track faculty candidate to focus their work on our new Game Design & Development concentration. Teaching assignments will be in the Computer Science undergraduate program, with a focus on courses in the Game Design & Development concentration during the academic year. Students in this program learn traditional Computer Science concepts while also studying fundamentals of game design and working on multidisciplinary teams to create and release original games. Additional courses for the undergraduate or graduate curriculum in Computer Science are possible and may be offered online or on-campus. The candidate is expected to engage in relevant scholarship that will advance research and creative opportunities for undergraduates.
The successful candidate will join the Department of Computer Science and contribute to our new concentration in Game Design and Development. This is one of five new concentrations that our students can choose from, and the successful candidate will have an instrumental role in helping form, grow, assess, and improve our programs. The Game Design and Development concentration involves significant collaboration with students and faculty in Art and Music, including an interdisciplinary, team-taught, year-long capstone experience. Ball State University values community-engaged scholarship, and many of our past multidisciplinary student game development teams have worked with local schools and museums to make original games.
Job Function:

Minimum Experience:
PhD in computer science or related field from an accredited university by date of appointment; commitment to excellence in teaching as demonstrated by a teaching statement and/or teaching evaluations.
Preferred Experience:
Experience teaching computer science courses strongly preferred; experience teaching game design and/or game development classes; commitment to excellence in teaching as demonstrated by teaching evaluations from at least one year of part-time or full-time teaching gained concurrently or at any time; practical experience in game design and development; effective written and oral communication skills.
