Job Profile Summary
Provides a comprehensive set of business, financial, and appointment related services via phone prior to the patient presenting for a service. Employee may rotate to different locations/hospitals based on staffing needs.
Job Description Responsibilities:
Performs preregistration for diagnostic testing and surgeries by contacting the patient via phone and completing an accurate interview to obtain demographic, insurance, medical and financial information.
Cross trained to staff all areas of the department with minimal leadership guidance. Utilizes estimator tool to provide patient with estimate of out of pocket expenses for services prior to date of service.
Contacts patient via out bound and inbound calls.
Maintain productivity and quality standards.
Facilitates problem identification, relays information timely, and resolves problems. Acts as a resource for training of new team members and during the implementation of new processes.
Participates on committees and engages in continuous improvement efforts.
Schedule services and provides physician office/patient with accurate date and time information.
Maintains open communication with physicians and their offices, patients and all ancillary areas in the facility.
Performs preregistration by contacting the patient and completing an accurate interview to obtain demographic, insurance, medical and financial information.
Provided scheduling, registration and cash collection access in Epic.

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Certifications:
None required.
Complexity of Work:
Basic PC software application knowledge and ability to use multiple data systems required.
Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology sufficient to understand physician orders or completion of course within 1 year.
Must be detail oriented.
Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills required. Must be able to multi-task and maintain composure in difficult situations in a fast paced environment.
Demonstrates a positive and professional approach and communicates effectively with customers and team members
Work Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a customer facing role with in person or phone contact.
Minimum 1 year working with insurance payers or patient registration.
Candidate must demonstrate PC skills efficiency.
An Associates degree may substitute for up to one year of the stated experience.
A Bachelors degree my substitute for up to two years of the stated experience.
